Good Riddance to Ruth Kelly

Ruth Kelly controversially resigned/got sacked (take your pick) from her job as Transport Secretary and from the government. She has now announced that she will step down as an MP at the next election. She also — at long last — confirmed what we all knew anyway: that she is a member of Opus Dei, the sinister ultra right-wing Catholic organisation that reserves its membership only for those in positions of influence. Presumably Opus Dei, too, will dump her now that she no longer has the power to further their nasty aims behind the scenes in Government.

The Guardian censors Sue Blackmore
from MediawatchwatchSue Blackmore, the author of a Comment is Free blog, has some interesting things to say about it in the comments section of Richard Dawkins’ website.
Firstly, the reason the news reported in her comment was old is because the article was written two weeks before it was published. The topic was considered so controversial that the editor of CiF had to personally approve it, and several phone calls and emails were exchanged before it was finally posted.
Secondly, the article which Sue originally submitted contained this link to the 12 Motoons, but when it appeared on CiF the link had been replaced with this one - a Guardian story about them.
The editors at CiF are so scared of offending Muslims that they won’t even link to the Motoons, let alone publish them.

The Humanist Society of Scotland believes that morality and ethics are not the sole preserve of faith groups and have decided to create and podcast their own Humanist TFTDs here, on thinkhumanist.org . The site is linked to over 7000 Humanist orientated organisations throughout the world. Our aim is both to offer an alternative to religious morality and to show the BBC and the public that Humanists can be equally, if not more, thought provoking when tackling moral and ethical issues as religious thinkers.

ARE you sick of religious nutters yet?
I am sick of hearing that teachers in primary schools have a right to dress like something out of the Batcave.
I am sick of the implication that I will be consumed by satanic lust if I gaze upon a female face.
And I am sick of interviews with Aishah Azmi, the Muslim teacher suspended for wearing a veil at a Church of England school in Yorkshire because, quite frankly, I can hardly understand a bloody word she says with that black sheet over her face.
And it's not just the Muslims. A Christian Bible-basher who works for British Airways is all over the news because she insists on wearing a crucifix outside her BA uniform. I am sick of her too - sick of all these people who want to rub my nose in their faith.
This is the most tolerant nation on Earth and in recent times our tolerance has been pushed to breaking-point.
Remove the veil. Remove the cross. Make your religion something private and personal that you share with the big man upstairs.
